Tipon & South Valley Tour include Tipon, Pikillacta, Andahuaylillas, explore the ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF TIPON half day private guided tour of the Valley of the Sun. ALL our INCA TRAIL EXPLORERS RECOMMEND this
place. Driving on the asphalt road to Puno, km 18, is a national archaeological park located west of Cusco. It covers a territory of about 2200 acres. It is found in the district of Oropesa, province of Quispicanchis. Half kilometer out of the paved road we find the small town of Tipon called LAND OF THE GUINEA PIG, where you have the opportunity to try a true local dish, guinea pig. Recommended by LONELY PLANET, Tipon is the best place to try the guinea pig.
You can admire several royal rooms that was built by the Inca Wiracocha as a house and shelter for his father Yawar Wakaq who returned after the war against the Chankas. This group of village is at 3500m. Besides there is a big area to cultivate with walls built with stones perfectly carved. Even more impressive is the irrigation system that is still used by the farmers today. The advantage is the water captured in the spring season. The river is channeled by some carved stones that have been accurately calculated, they sometimes form falls almost vertical composing an excellent hydraulic engineering work. Some of the fountains must have served as ceremonial purposes. Due to its location and the existence of a round wall, Tipon must have been a very exclusive place interdependent to other sectors such as "Intiwatana" to the west, "Pukutuyoq", "Pukara", "Hatun Wayko", etc.

PLACES TO SEE
Tipon ruins, If you are looking for paradise on earth, then look no further than Tipón (or Tipon) in Peru. Verdant terrace upon verdant terrace forms a spiritual garden tempting the gods to partake in the agricultural feast. And presumably, exactly this has been the intent of the Incas, who build the ingenious system of precise terraces interconnected by gargling water channels.
Piquilaqta Peru famous of the archaeological places from Inca times. But there are also other ruins worth to explore here, from the times before Inca Empire. As one of the good examples it should be mentioned about the Pikillacta or Pikillaqta ruins of Wari culture. Pikillacta, which means in in Quechua “flea city” is an enormous set of ruins. Still a lot of them are covered with the grass, trees but even that part which was cleaned makes quite a big impression. The whole complex of Pikillaqta is located over 3350 m.a.s.l. (11000 feet) and covers an area of around 2 square kilometers. This pre-Inkan city was probably occupied in the times about 550 to 1100 AD and contains approximately 700 buildings.
Andahuayllillas. It is often called the "Sistine Chapel of the Andes" because of the beauty of its mural painting. The sanctuary has a polychrome ceiling in the Mudéjar style built using a pre-Hispanic construction method called kur-kur which combines cane, straw, and mud instead of wood. Andahuaylillas is a small town located 25 miles (41 kilometers) from the city of Cusco, at 10,000 feet (3,100 meters) above sea level.
