BRIEFING: The day before the trek, you will meet with your trekking guide at our EXPLORE ADVENTURES PERU office and meet all the members of your group. Your guide will explain to you about the trek, route and all the necessary recommendations will be provided to you. This will take approximately 40 minutes, where you will receive your duffel bags that will be carried by the horses along the tail.

DAY 4 . AGUAS CALIENTES/ LOST INCA CITY, MACHU PICCHU
We will wake up early to take the bus to Machu Picchu (2,430 m.a.s.l.) where we will be among the first visitors of the day to enjoy the magic and mystery of one of the wonders of the world. We will have a tour of the citadel for approximately 2-3 hours. After the visit we will hike the Mountain Huaynapicchu. From there we will enjoy the splendor of Machupicchu and the surrounding landscape, the exotic tranquility of the lost city of the Incas. By the afternoon we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes. Once in town you will have free time to grab lunch and later on in the day we will take the train to return, Perú Rail - Expedition*. Upon arrival to Cusco our transfer will be waiting in our private van to take you back to your hotel. End of services.
ITINERARY
Day 01 Cusco – Calca – Lares Hot Springs – Wacawasi
We leave from Cusco early in the morning by bus and travel through the Sacred Valley arriving to Lares Hot Springs and spend the morning soaking in the medicinal Hot Springs. After lunch, we have 2 hours of trekking to our campsite.
Day 02 Wacawasi– Ipsaycocha-Pumamarca
After continuing up through the Valley, we arrive to the Community of Huacawasi. People here produce some of the finest weavings in Peru. Here we can observe their talented skills and brilliant techniques in the fabrication of ponchos and other garments. Passing the village, we begin climbing up to Condor Pass at 4,100 masl. From here, we catch a stunning view of the renowned Mount Veronica (5,750 masl). Descending gently for about 1 hour, we come to the beautiful Ipsaycocha Lake, where we will stop for lunch. 3 hours more to Patacancha village , from this point we will take a local bus to Huallata (approximately a 30 min. ride). We will walk for another 45 minutes towards our campsite at Pumamarka (3,750 m.a.s.l.) which is an archeological site located strategically between two mountains. Here we will set our campsite for the night..
Day 03 Pumamarka – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
After breakfast and descending into the valley, we eventually arrive to the community of Willoq. From here, it will take 2 hours to arrive to Pumamarka and enjoy the Inca terraces. Finally, we will arrive at Ollantaytambo, which is situated in a fertile river valley and sheltered by mammoth mountains. This is considered one of the ancient living museums in the world. This is a perfect place to appreciate the vast archeological remains and the wide variety of flowers and birds species. We will then take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and spend a night in a comfortable hostel.
Day 04 Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Cusco
After an early breakfast, we will take the bus to Machu Picchu, where we will start on our 3 hour guided visit. After enjoying the ruins, we will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes where you will have free time to enjoy the town before we return to Cusco.

Would you also like to hike Huayna Picchu? Sure you we can make it! Its price is US$85.00 per person and there are 2 turns (at 7 am and 10am), Only 400 people can hike Huaynapicchu per day. You will climb it on your own after the tour in Machu Picchu, starting around 10:00 a.m. We recommend that you book your tickets in advance to let us know of your interest in Huayna Picchu. Machu Picchu Mountain is an alternative climbing mountain, which also offers fantastic views of Machupicchu. We recommend it if Huayna Picchu Mountain is full.
