BRIEFING: The day before the trek, you will meet with your trekking guide at our EXPLORE ADVENTURES office and meet all the members of your group. Your guide will explain to you about the trek, route and all the necessary recommendations will be provided to you. This will take approximately 40 minutes, where you will receive your duffel bags that will carried by horses along the trail.

ITINERARY
Day 1. CUSCO - MOLLEPATA - SORAYPAMPA - HUMANTAY LAKE- SOYROCOCHA
Early in the morning we pick you up from your hotel and transfer you in a private bus to Mollepata passing picturesque and traditional towns like Iscuchaca, Ancahuasi and Limatambo, as well as highland plateaus and landscapes with great views of snow capped mountains that belong to the cordillera Vilcabamba. The bus trip will last 3 hours and the hike will be 6 hours.
DAY 2. SOYROCOCHA - PASS SALCANTAY - COLLPAPAMPA
After breakfast, we will continue ascending to the high pass and enjoy of the beauty of the nature. After approximately 1.5 hours, we will reach the highest pass at 14,989 ft asl (4,600 masl). Here, we will have a stunning view of the sacred mountains of Salkantay and Humantay mountains and lakes. We will also be able to see a pile of stones that grows daily and this is due to each traveler adding one as he or she passes. When a tourist adds to this pile, he or she thanks the Apus (mountain spirits) for a safe trip. We will then descend to a site called Andenes at 12,500 ft asl (3,800 masl) before continuing to Umantay (pyramid-shaped peak). We will then arrive to Huayracpampa, where we will have lunch. After re-energizing, we will enter the tropical cloud forest and discover its lush vegetation of wild orchids, bromeliads and other flowers, as well as hummingbirds. We will then continue our descent through the bamboo groves and after 4 hours heading downhill, we will arrive to the village of Collpapampa where we will have dinner and camp for the night.
DAY 3. COLLPAPAMPA – PLAYA - SANTA TERESA ´HOT SPRING´
After a healthy breakfast, we will continue down the valley into the forest that contains groves of bamboo and great bird watching opportunities. Flocks of colorful tropical birds roam the forest and waterfalls cascade down cliffs with water warm enough for you to bathe in. The trail is filled with begonias, purple orchids and strawberries. We will then walk to our lunch camp site, the beach village. after lunch we drive to santa teresa town and we have the afternoon for going to Santa Teresa the place is located one of most beautiful hot springs we chilling all afternoon in the pools there we spend the night.

DAY 4 SANTA TERESA - ZIP LINE – HIDROELÉCTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES

In the early morning, we have the option to visit the COLA DE MONO CANOPY PARK
- The tour takes approximately 2 hours and starts at the Cola de Mono base camp with an orientation from our guides.
- After this, a 20 min walk will take you to the beginning of the circuit, which consists of a total of 2500m of cables divided into 7 sections.
- After the third cable, there is a rockclimb up a vertical ladder (Via Ferrata) more than 150m above the Rio Sacsara.
- Finally, there’s a short walk back down to Cola de Mono base camp, where equipment is returned.
- The Canopy Tour includes all equipment (harness, helmet and gloves) as well as the guided and supervised tour of the canopy.
After this adventure we take a transport to the hidroelectrica and then hike to Aguas Calientes. From there, you will be able to see the lower part of Machu Picchu citadel and part of the ancient Inca trail.

DAY 5 AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO
After an early morning breakfast at 5:00 am, we will take the first bus to Machu Picchu, arriving early to the Citadel. We will be among the first visitors, before the other tourists arrive from the classic Inca trail and before tourists arriving by train. Our visit will be without many people and we will get to enjoy the magic and beauty of its buildings and its landscape surrounded by mountains, valleys, rivers, etc. Your tour guide will guide you through the most important places in Macchu Picchu for about 2 hours, then you will have a free time to explore around the Citadel or have the opportunity to climb Huayna Picchu. We will then take the bus to Aguas Calientes to board the train back to Cusco in the afternoon.

Would you also like to hike Huayna Picchu? Sure you we can make it! Its price is US$65.00 per person and there are 2 turns (at 7am and 10am), Only 400 people can hike Huayna Picchu per day. You will climb it on your own after the tour in Machu Picchu, starting around 10:00 a.m. We recommend that you book your tickets in advance to let us know of your interest in Huayna Picchu. Machu Picchu Mountain is an alternative climbing mountain, which also offers fantastic views of Machupicchu. We recommend it if Huayna Picchu Mountain is full.
CANCELLATION:
- 1. Because of the strict regulations of the Machupicchu Park, once you have made your reservation, you cannot cancel the space that you have reserved. You also may not alter the name or date of the reservation. If you are unable to come on the date you have reserved, we cannot reimburse you.
- 2. The $200 deposit is non-refundable. We cannot reimburse the entrance fee to the Inca Trail because the permits are non-refundable and EXPLORE ADVENTURES purchases the tickets from Machupicchu Park when you reserve your spot.
- 3. If you cancel between 30 and 10 days before your trek, you must pay 50% of the total cost.
- 4. If you cancel between 10 and 3 days before your trek, you must pay 80% of the total cost.
- 5. If you cancel one or two days before your trek, you must pay 100% of the total cost.
- 6. In the exceptional case that you decide to head back once you have started the trail, you must pay extra expenses such as food and transportation. You may join the group in Machupicchu for the walking tour and use all of the services onward.
